We all need a sympathy card idea from time to time and here is one I made using the Decorative Borders stamp set. It’s a new set that you will find in the January – April Mini Catalogue. We actually received this stamp set as part of our swag bag of goodies when we attended OnStage in October last year. I was pretty happy with that as it was one I was going to order, so that meant I could look at another stamp set to add into my first order from the Mini Catalogue!

The beauty of this stamp set of course is in the name, it is designed to create lovely borders for your cards or scrapbook pages. This was the first card I created using this set. I made another one using a different colouring technique which I will be sharing to my newsletter readers this week as their free Weekly Tutorial that I send out on Fridays. When planning your card think about first how you plan to colour the image as this will affect your choice of ink pad that you will use. Colouring with Stampin’ Blends, an alcohol pen requires a water base inkpad like Memento. If using markers then Staz-On is fine to use but will be a definite no-no with alcohol pens.
To colour the stamped images for this card I used Sweet Sorbet and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. If you don’t recognise the dies for the sentiment, that’s because they are a new die set, Something Fancy dies. The greeting comes from the matching stamp set, Something Fancy, which you will also find in the new Mini Catalogue. Don’t you love that Stampin’ Up! have finally switched to having the same title for coordinating stamp and die sets? Saves my poor brain having to remember two different titles for every bundle in the catalogues!
The Something Fancy dies are a great versatile set of layering dies. Always a very useful addition to add to your die collection.
So there you have it, a simple, lovely sympathy card idea. Sit and colour a few while you are at it. Leave the sentiment blank for now and add the appropriate sentiment when you need a card, such as a sympathy card. The Something Fancy bundle has a range of sentiments and matching dies.
