My Seaside Bay sympathy card was created by me recently to sadly send to one of my downline who’s husband had passed away. It is always a sad occasion having to create a sympathy card on the spot and I really should have a supply on hand at all times ready to send when required. Fortunately my Mini catalogue order had arrived and there inside the big brown box was the perfect stamp set to create a condolence card with.
I have to say I love this bundle of stamps and dies along with the superb 6 x 6 By the Bay papers, the Flat Pearls and the ribbon which I used on my card. As we expect from Stampin’ Up! stamps, the images stamp up cleanly and the detail is is perfect.
The background behind the die cut sandpiper (that’s the equivalent bird here in Australia) was created using a technique known as ghosting. It is done using a Versamark inkpad. You stamp your images onto your chosen card, here I used Basic White. Then with a blender brush, apply ink over the stamped images and the Versamark ink will resist the applied ink, creating that “ghost” impression. I did this with the birds in the upper card section and with the sand grains in the lower section of the card.
Adding the ribbon delineates the two blended sections. That is it covers up the demarcation which may not be that pretty to look at!!!! The sympathy greeting, as you can see fits the Double Oval punch. The background scalloped oval was punched from vellum. My design has been adapted from a presentation done at OnStage last year in Vienna.
