Colour Combination For Your Next Card

Spread the love

Do you look at photos or scenes and see the colours and think that will make a great colour combination for a card? I took this photo of the gang gang cockatoos in one of our shrubs last week. The combination of the gray and red tones made me think of our current In Colors Pebbled Path and Sweet Sorbet. So I set myself a challenge to create a card using those colours. I asked my Facebook followers what other green tone to include and the response was Mossy Meadow.

I also needed to create a card for a bundle tutorial group I belong to so I had the colour combination, I had the bundle I had to use which was Nature’s Prints stamps and Natural Prints dies. So I set to and created the card below.

I now have the collection of tutorials created by a group of demonstrators from around the world. If any of my customers order this combination of stamps and dies, they will receive this collection of tutorials using Nature’s Prints stamps and Natural Pints dies.

The card base is Pebbled Path. The embossed card strip is Sweet Sorbet. The inks are Pebbled Path, Sweet Sorbet and Mossy Meadow. The ribbon is Sweet Sorbet. Challenge fulfilled!

The embossing folder was part of the Natural Prints Collection in the just retired Annual Catalogue. The Fern 3D embossing folder carried over into the new Annual Catalogue along with the co ordinating stamps and dies used here for my card.

Take a look at your surroundings, look at gardens and flowers when you are out walking and take a photo of colour combinations you see. Use these to inspire your next session of cardmaking. Nature is very clever in harmonising colours together!

If you enjoy seeing different colour combinations, have a look at this post where I tried different colour combinations to create the cards.

I hope you find a colour combination for your next card the next time you are out and about this weekend!

Happy Crafting!
